Angel Policy?
MadRat Rubber is an Angel company so you may use my stamps on items for resale providing the images are hand stamped and not mechanically or electronically reproduced. Exceptions made for hand-pulled prints i.e.: etchings etc. or prints of artwork, like collages, created using my stamps, in small limited editions. I consider my stamps to be tools & expect them to be used in the process of making art. Contact me if you have any questions or would like permission for a special project. Some of the other companies I carry may have different policies from mine so you will need to contact them for more information.
What does um mean & why would I want it?
A "um" or un-mounted stamp is just the rubber bit, no wood handle or foam of any kind. Rubber in the raw, so to speak. I believe this practice was started among small independant stamp companies as a way to offer a more inexpensive option. It's generally half the cost of a traditional wood mounted stamp. There are several other advantages chief of which is storage, they take up a fraction of the space that a wood mounted version uses and when used with a clear acrylic handle placement of the stamp is much more accurate.
And cling mount?
​A cling mounted stamp is the rubber attached to a cushion of foam that has adhesive on one side and a static cling surface on the other. The cling surface will temporally stick to any slick surface such as the acrylic block handles. When purchased already cling mounted the stamp & cushion are trimmed very close to the image and with the use of a clear handle or "mount" makes for good placement when stamping. This can also be done as DIY if you want to buy the foam & stamps separately to mount yourself. Advantages are, they still take up less room than wood & you need only a few different size mounts to use with multiple stamps as the stamps can be easily removed from the mount.
